Lessons in person or Online
At North Shore Drums, lessons are catered to the student’s individual needs. Drum lessons are given at Kristian’s home studio in West Vancouver or online on Zoom. During the lessons, an emphasis is placed on learning styles of drumming (rock, jazz, blues, funk), reading, technique, improvisation and fun! The ages of Kristian’s students range from as young as 4 up to 75 years of age.

Kristian Braathen teaches all styles of drum set from his home studio in West Vancouver or online on Zoom. Since earning a Bachelors Degree in Music from Capilano University in 2003, Kristian maintains a busy teaching and performing schedule in the Lower Mainland and beyond. Over the past two decades, Kristian has performed in all genres of music, including: Rock, Pop, Blues, Country, Funk, Show Band (reading), Musical Theatre (reading), Jazz, and World Music.

My son had drum lessons with Kristian starting in elementary school and continuing until he started university. Kristian was a great teacher — he was unfailingly positive and enthusiastic. Kristian’s passion for music was very evident. We were able to attend some of the concerts given by Kristian’s jazz trio, and this was very inspiring.
